Kiva

without comments

I just read an article about Kiva, an online microfinance lender.  What an innovative idea!  The post I read was from Kim.  He points to Guy Kawasaki’s post.  What a tangled web we weave…

I had a friend who was in finance.  She told me she worked for Grameen bank.  I had never heard of them before.  She explained what they do.  I thought it was a neat idea.

Then my friend James let me read “Banker to the Poor” by Muhammad Yunus.   It’s an amazing story and a seemingly improbably success.  Then he won the Nobel Peace Prize and everyone seems to have heard of him.

The challenge for most of us is this.  If you’re interested in microfinance but don’t want to start your own business or quit your job it’s not always easy to participate.  With Kiva, there seems to be an easy, simple way to get involved.
